Konstantinos A. Economou was born in Athens in 1979. He studied Βiology at the University of Crete, followed by studies in clinical embryology, embryo biopsy and fetal medicine at the University College of London. He specialized in clinical embryology (ACE Certificate in Clinical Embryology) and worked since 2003 as Senior Clinical Embryologist in world renowned IVF clinics in London, while since 2009 he is working as Consultant Clinical Embryologist in Embryogenesis. In 2017 he was awarded a PhD diploma in Clinical Embryology by the University of Athens Medical School. He is an expert in embryo biopsy for Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), while he is Quality Manager of the PGD laboratory in Embryogenesis. He is responsible for the birth of the first children in Greece employing the technique of polar body and blastocyst biopsies followed by karyomapping genetic analysis of the embryos.
